BILLET Pilot

The integrated process model calculates the temperature distribution in the billet by means of the electric power consumed by the induction coils. Conventional press-on thermocouples can only measure the surface temperature. Based on the known temperature distribution, the model serves to make optimum use of the overshoot temperature thus reducing the heat-up time. The model improves process management so that the repeatability of the process increases. The existing press-on thermocouples can continue to be used as an additional safety measure but require less maintenance because only one measurement per billet is required.
